Habit Stacking for Success.

Do you need some help to  meet some of your own time-management and personal development goals?

You are not alone.  I need help, too!

If you are like me, you want to do so many things but when you consider the time it will take it feels overwhelming.  Sometimes I just turn my back on things that I want to accomplish for the time-commitment seems to be unreasonable.

Today, I read this  Blog Post on Habit Stacking

As I read, I began having  an “Aha!” moment, like quiet whispers in my mind. ‘Lynda, you can do this!’ was the message I heard.

I knew this idea-

HABIT STACKING,

is an answer for solving my time-management desires.

For instance, I have a  big stack of books I want to read. They are print copies – and I will have to read them on my CCTV – very slowly.   I’m a VISUAL LEARNER so I appreciate them more when I can READ books on  the MERLIN, a  Closed Circuit Television  for visually impaired people – even though it is slow going.

I am visually impaired, by the way!

These  are all books I purchased because I think they are important, educational or  enjoyable.

Here’s my problem.  I’ve accumulated the books  for the past few years. When I organized my office, I put the books into organizing cubes. I bought the containers at Dollar Tree.  For just $1. each, they hold about fifteen books.  But that did not solve the real issue.

My problem is that I have not found a way to get my books read.

With this new idea of HABIT STACKING, I can see the possibility of getting into the HABIT of READING my books. I will begin to READ CONSISTANTLY from the BOOKS in my collection. One at a time – nice an EASY.

FIFTEEN MINUTES A DAY.

It’s time for me to take an ACTION

I will  MAKE  A NEW HABIT.

Here’s what I think is reasonable for me to do.

I’ll follow the HABIT STACKING FORMULA  given by

AUTHOR: ELBERT JOHN MEGINO

on the blog:

 Vir Glarea

Here is how that will work – this quote is from the blog:

HABIT STACKING = AFTER / BEFORE [ CURRENT HABIT ], I WILL [ NEW HABIT ]

  • After I wake up, I will begin my day with prayer and meditation.
  • After I drink my  morning coffee in my favorite cup,  I will read a book for 15 minutes.
  • Before I open my computer  in the morning, I will write 3 intentions/goals for the day.   What 3 things will I do today?
  • After lunch,  I will take time for rest and silence.

I will begin this program to begin Habit Stacking on July 1, 2020.

I’ll let you know how that goes – I’ll post my experiences here on

GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

I hope you will think about joining me for the month of JULY with your own HABIT STACKING project.

Can we  do this together?

What do you think?
